Brit Awards 2012

Skiing, pancakes, Brits, Whitney…. so many things happening this/last week! So much so that I have had absolutely no time at all to blog; my apologies fly out to you like the swarm of bees that chased Thomas J in ‘My Girl’, possibly the sweetest movie in the whole wide world.

This will be a speedy post about tonight’s Brit awards. Admittedly, this year is set to be a relatively interesting show! In an interview with XFM, James Corden mentioned the fact that this year there will be more minutes of live performances than actual award-giving, which is an exciting first. There’s nothing more bland than artists forcing awkwardly pretentious ‘thank you’ speeches during awards shows, so this year might be slightly better…

Some nominees include the likes of Coldplay, Florence, Sheeran, Jessie J, Vaccines, Lana Del Rey, Arctic Monkeys, y’know, the usual semi-talented bunch. Well, obviously they’re talented enough to be nominated and all, but in today’s day and age anyone can be a music award winner… There is also an “Outstanding Contribution To Music” which goes to Blur, which is frankly quite cool.  Find the full list here.

I’m sure half of you are already watching it or are meaning to catch the highlights at a later point in the week, whilst the other 50% couldn’t give a rat’s balls. I’m personally normally not that big on awards shows, but this IS the Brits, and we all know that British is best! When it comes to music, of course…

*sigh* Oh killmenow, One Direction have just stolen “British Single Of the Year”. Perhaps I’ll take back the whole “British is best” thing…
